Meet the Finalist: Elanor Miller, "TENEBRIUM"

Tell us about yourself, and about TENEBRIUM.

As a writer, I love to challenge my characters, to push them to the edge and see how much they can cope with before they break. TENEBRIUM is a project that allowed me to do just that. Right from the beginning of the pilot, the main characters are forced to question their morality. Nothing is black and white in the scripts dystopian world and this constantly forces its inhabitants to walk the fine line between right and wrong. TENEBRIUM as a project that is very close to my heart and I am beyond grateful to be counted among the Annual nominees.

Share a memorable moment you experienced working on this project.

For me, the most memorable moment was the scripts first award for Best Screenplay. At the time I was relatively new to professional writing and to receive feedback that said without question "This is good" was just what I had needed. It gave me the confirmation that I wasn't wasting my time pursuing writing and the confidence to write more.

Name 3 collaborators that you'd take with you to any other project.

As my nomination was for best screenplay and I'm the sole author, I can't really answer that yet. But should Tenebrium get picked up there are a few people (You know who you are) that I would have as part of my team in a heartbeat.

3 tips you’d like to share with aspiring artists in your field:

To quote Shia LaBeouf: Just do it. Work hard, write harder and don't give up. Never stop perfecting your craft. Learn the industry standards then develop your own style. Once you know the rules, you can break them.

What do you hope to achieve in your career in the next 5 years?

In five years I hope to be doing what I love full time. I hope to be running my own show or be staffed on an established one.

TENEBRIUM is nominated for Best Screenplay of the Year at the New York Film Awards.
