Meet the Finalist: Debbie Sutcliffe, "Pushing Envelopes"
Tell us about yourself, and about Pushing Envelopes.
I am the Writer, Director, Producer and Lead Actress for the film 'Pushing Envelopes" I am delighted to be nominated in the Best Duo category with my Lead Actor Mr. Mickey Stone.
Share a memorable moment you experienced working on this project.
Probably one of the most memorable moments was during location scouting at a funeral home, we were givin the complete tour of the facilities.
Name 3 collaborators that you'd take with you to any other project.
My Assistant Director Brittney Greer who has been by my side for everyone of my productions. My Lead Actor Mickey Stone because not only is he an incredible actor, he is also just an absolute pleasure to work with and I consider him a great friend, I would like to say my entire cast and crew but I must only pick three, so my other pick would be my husband Greg who is always 100% on my side and always very understandable about the long hours and just all the craziness that goes into being an actress and filmmaker.
3 tips you’d like to share with aspiring artists in your field:
Find the best cast and crew, every position on a film set is important.Don't compare youself to others, or chase others, do your own thing.Have patience and put as much time as needed in the pre-production prcocess, this will really help when you are actually in production.
What do you hope to achieve in your career in the next 5 years?
In the next five years my goal as an actress would be to be cast in a Western and a Super Hero Avengers type movie. I love when I am cast in films that not only inspire but also that push the limits of range and emotion. As a filmmaker I definitely would love to Direct more films, and maybe produce a feature film.
Pushing Envelopes is nominated for Best Duo of the Year at the New York Film Awards.
